16 - SharePoint Online Sites¶

1. Configure SharePoint Sites¶

1. Head into the SharePoint admin center for the tenant

2. Go to Sites > Active Sites

Rename Communication Site¶

1. Rename the main 'Communication Site' to 'Client Name Gov' eg. 'Stratus Cyber Gov'

Create Controlled Work Site¶

1. Create a new Team Site

   • Select default Team Site theme
   • Name: Controlled Work Site
   • Description: Secure workspace for handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI)
   • Group Owner: yourself for now (this will be changed to the designated SharePoint admin for the client)
   • Set it to Private, English and EST time zone (can be changed later)
   • Create - don't worry about adding members yet

2. Edit the Controlled Work Site to look like the one below - you can get more branded with the customization but at a minimum ensure it has the below: (Also refer to notes in the screenshot)

2. Configure Home Page Site¶

1. Visit the default site you renamed earlier, which is usually tenantname.sharepoint.us and edit the home page. Look for the option about applying a template and refer to the below steps

2. Apply the template which looks like the one in the photo below and then edit the site homepage to have the same look and content as the screenshot:

3. Configure Site Membership¶

1. Back on the SharePoint admin portal, within Sites > Active Sites

2. Click on the Controlled Work Site one and go to Membership

3. Within the 'Site Members' option, add the 'Users - CUI User Access - Static' group
